This relatively unknown botanical garden is located at the Rodman Hall Arts Centre, once part of the Thomas Rodman Merritt Estate. From its original designer, a landscaper from England, to more recent projects, the garden has resulted in a collection of exotic trees and plants amid extensive grounds on the embankment overlooking the Twelve Mile Creek.

Happy Rolph's Bird Sanctuary
Happy Rolph's Bird Sanctuary is a 6-hectare (15-acre) park that is home to hundreds of migratory and resident birds. A petting farm, open from May through October, is located on site and the park features a pavilion with picnic and playground areas. Situated on Lake Ontario's shores, the sanctuary is reached by Read Road, east of the Welland Canal.

Montebello Park
Designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, Montebello Park lies within the Queens Street Heritage district in downtown St. Catharines and is framed by Ontario and Lake Streets. It was created in the 1800's by Fredrick Olmstead, the architect who designed New York City's Central Park. Various amenities are scattered throughout the 2.5 hectares(6.5 acres) of grounds.

Burgoyne Woods
Located in downtown St. Catharines, Burgoyne Woods is a large recreational park with paved trails for walking, jogging or cycling. The woods also include sports fields and courts, playground areas, pools and picnic areas. Trails are wheelchair accessible.

Greater Niagara Circle Route
The Greater Niagara Circle Route is a trail system linking Lake Erie with Lake Ontario. Four trails; the Waterfront Trail, the Niagara River Recreational Trail, the Friendship Trail and the Welland Canal Recreational Trail are connected to form a circuit for walking or cycling the Niagara region.

Welland Canal Recreational Trail
This 9 km (5.5 mi) trail runs parallel to the Welland Canal and is popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists wishing to watch vessels maneuvering the canal. Several benches line the trail which is accessible from Lock Three on the canal.
